Alternatively they can be bought from the vendor for 500 orens. If you need emerald dust, you may need to kill some more Wraiths. To do that go to any blacksmith (I went to the Nilfgaardian camp) and have the swords forged.
The last step is to craft these swords. You now have both diagrams for the swords. Go inside the Catacomb, loot the corpse and get out.Now follow the quest directions of that quest.Inside the fort you will find the Serpentine’s steel sword diagram and a book that starts the quest: Scavenger Hunt – Viper School Gear.Go to the ransacked village and look for the tallest building (looks like a fort) and then climb up there.First of all you need to be in the White Orchard zone. The sword with 25% added bonus against large creatures and gargoyles is called "Deithwen" and is very useful against a certain large creature at the end.Witcher 3 Best Weapons Locations Guide by LiftingNerdBroĮarly Game – Serpentine Steel & Silver Swords
Hoping for some decent dlc or expansion pack so I can use it to full effect again :) My mage build is so much fun, I load it up from time to time just to replay the last battles in act 3. Actually from the Operator's staff they dance around drunken from being set on fire, then the next or the one after the next hit freezes them and makes them explode :).
The best thing was, if you only use Greater Critical Effects mutagens and boost sign damage and intensity as far as possible you get exploding frozen bodies left and right and you can 1-2 shot a group of harpies from your quen damage plus a single igni area spell alone. In the end I had 8 vigor points, 0.5 vigor regen in and out of combat and 80-97 damage with potions. Operators staff has 40-60 damage I, believe and a mighty 80% incineration plus 10% freeze (if memory serves me right).
Silver Sword: Addan Deith (swordsmanship heavy build)/ Zekkikanterment (magic heavy build) This.Īlthough on my mage heavy build I liked the Operator's staff better than the forgotten Vran sword. Steel Sword: Forgotten Vran Sword (or Caerme - a close second, for people who chose a certain path and is unable to get the Vran Sword) I mistook a mini-boss in Act 2 to be in Act 3.Īrmor: Vran Armor (for swordsmanship heavy builds)/ Ysgith armor (for magic heavy builds) With the bonus damage against large creatures it is more powerful against the elemental (well, if you got him on 3 hits I guess it doesn't matter).Įdit: Wait a second. It is 3 damage behind Addan Deith at most. I remember comparing that silver sword to Zerikannment or Addan Deith and decided that I liked mine better.Īctually after checking the item database, the sword's name is Deithwenn. I was on Roche's path (not sure if it matters). I got that sword before entering Loc Muinne (I think I spelt it wrong). I think it's meant more as a last-resort weapon that the game grants you, a contingency plan in case you have a weaker sword.Mild spoiler. Basically, with the Addan Deith and a properly built character, you can kill Phillipa's Elemental in 3 hits, on Hard (I know I did).įorgotten Vran sword is about 5 points worth of damage weaker than Caerme - but you get it later than Caerme, and only on Roche's side (and even then there's another condition). Anticitizen101: I think you receive the silver sword that does damage against Gargoyles as a quest reward from The Gargoyle Contract.
